The Tenant Shield (the "Service") is provided by The Rent Shield (PTY) LTD as a digital documentation and evidentiary archival utility. The Service is designed to assist Users in organizing and recording property condition data.

Important: The Service is a diagnostic and administrative tool, not a judicial or legal mechanism. Just as a diagnostic instrument assists in the documentation of symptoms but cannot guarantee a clinical outcome, the Service provides the structure for documentation but does not guarantee the resolution of rental disputes or the recovery of deposits. The Rent Shield (PTY) LTD does not provide, and explicitly disclaims, the provision of legal advice or arbitration services.

2. User-Dependent Efficacy

The efficacy of the Service is entirely contingent upon the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the data provided by the User.

• The Input Principle: The evidentiary value of any report generated by the Service is directly proportional to the veracity of the information input by the User.

• User Responsibility: The Service functions solely as the mechanism for collection and storage. The User bears the sole responsibility for ensuring that all descriptions, imagery, and temporal data represent a truthful account of the property condition. Any failure to record data accurately, or the submission of incomplete information, may diminish or nullify the evidentiary weight of the reports generated. The Rent Shield (PTY) LTD shall not be held liable for any negative outcomes resulting from the User’s failure to input accurate or honest information.

3. Evidentiary Disclaimer

While the Service utilizes cryptographic timestamps and digital metadata to preserve the state of recorded data, The Rent Shield (PTY) LTD makes no representation or warranty regarding the admissibility or acceptance of any generated reports by the Rental Housing Tribunal (RHT), any court of law, or any third-party landlord/agent. The acceptance of such evidence remains at the discretion of the presiding authority or relevant parties. The Service provides the tools for effective record-keeping; it does not confer legal authority or guarantee success in any dispute.

4. Indemnification and Limitation of Liability

• Indemnity: The User agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Rent Shield (PTY) LTD, its directors, and employees, from any claims, damages, or legal expenses arising from the User’s use of the Service, including but not limited to disputes with landlords, agents, or other third parties.

• No Warranty of Outcome: The User acknowledges that the rental dispute process is subject to numerous external variables beyond the control of the Service. The Service is provided on an "as-is" basis, and all implied warranties are hereby disclaimed to the maximum extent permitted by law.

5. Professional Recommendation

The use of the Service should not be considered a substitute for professional legal consultation. If a User is engaged in a material rental dispute or is facing significant financial liability, The Rent Shield (PTY) LTD strongly advises the User to engage the services of a qualified legal practitioner or to consult directly with the appropriate housing authorities.
